SAN FRANCISCO, August 14, 2026. Homestead Capital, an investment manager specializing in U.S. agriculture, announced the successful first close of its inaugural commingled private credit strategy, focusing on senior secured loans to agricultural borrowers across the United States.

The first close was anchored by a $150 million commitment from a large U.S. state pension system's private credit investment team. Homestead targets $350 million in total commitments with a $500 million hard cap.

Co-Founder Dan Little stated: "Agriculture continues to face a structural shortage of flexible lending capital despite strong borrower demand and resilient collateral values."

The strategy provides flexible financing to high-quality agricultural operators through senior secured loans collateralized by farmland and agricultural assets. Since 2012, Homestead has deployed more than $1.8 billion across U.S. farmland and agricultural assets.

This announcement follows Homestead's strategic partnership with Barings and MassMutual, featuring a $300 million forward-flow program.

Justin Burns, Head of Credit, noted: "This first close enables us to capitalize on a robust pipeline of lending opportunities while continuing to build long-term partnerships with institutional investors."

Homestead manages approximately $1.8 billion in assets for pension plans, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, and family offices.
