Grain Management Completes Strategic Combination Forming Rightfiber
The combination of Ritter Communications and Great Plains Communications creates one of the nation's largest privately held fiber broadband platforms across 20 states.
WASHINGTON, September 10, 2026. Grain Management announced the completion of its strategic combination of Ritter Communications and Great Plains Communications, forming Rightfiber. The deal was first announced in June of this year. Rightfiber is now one of the nation's largest privately held fiber broadband platforms.
Grain is a private investment firm focused on digital infrastructure and communications. The firm has backed both companies' growth through long-term investment in fiber infrastructure and broadband expansion. Rightfiber serves more than 400 communities across 20 states. It runs a 28,000-mile fiber network with more than 300,000 fiber-to-the-home passings.
In conjunction with the merger, Rightfiber entered into a $1.6 billion credit facility led by Fifth Third Bank. That funding supports continued organic growth as well as potential M&A.
"Today marks an exciting new chapter for our employees, customers, and communities," said Heath Simpson, chief executive officer of Rightfiber. "The combination creates an organization built on shared values, exceptional people, and a commitment to investing in the communities we serve. As Rightfiber, we are better positioned than ever to expand access to our world-class fiber connectivity while continuing to deliver the local service and relationships our customers have always counted on."
"Our team is in place, the network is connected, systems integration is in process, and we have successfully funded our growth plan," Simpson said. "Our next chapter is well underway."
Existing services, local support teams and customer relationships remain in place through the transition. Rightfiber said it will keep investing in network expansion and technology across its footprint. Grain Management was founded in 2007. It specializes in digital infrastructure, including fiber networks, data centers, wireless spectrum, cell towers and services.
